Look Ma, no ads!

Darren’s latest video about his sock drawer got me thinking – Do I really need all that distraction in my sidebar? Do I really need that sidebar?

So I banished the sidebar, and look at it now. I’m loving the simplicity and serenity! I do apologize to those of you who like ads, but I’m sure you can find your share on most other blogs. I’ve decided that I do not want to run a commercial blog again, and I only want to share personal recommendations with people. Things I’ve tried – things that work. Not the next big money making fad. I’ve learned that scoring a quick buck here and there is definitely not the way to go.

Right, let’s get down to business. Since the paint around here is still wet, the design remains a work in progress. Countless free WP themes have tried and failed to impress. They just don’t make ‘em like they used to, or I’m getting too old for this stuff.

Anyway, I decided to buy Chris’s Thesis WordPress theme since everyone keeps raving about it, and after just half an hour I am starting to understand why – The Thesis framework is really rock-solid. It might take a little work but brings great results. I don’t think I’ve ever seen or used a more flexible and customizable theme.

I love the smell of a new blog in the morning

The famous wordpress logoOk, so I took a cheesy movie line and morphed it into an even cheesier first post title. If I knew what the abbreviation meant, I would have said WFC. But enough of that. Too busy setting up my brandnew blog. All I needed was a little bit of filler text to see what it all looks like when I’m done.

Just for the sake of it, a nice, shiny WordPress logo would be quite suitable in this post. My promise to you; there will be a lot of really interesting posts coming soon. And if you’re lucky, more of these too probably.

In the meantime, feel free to subscribe to my RSS feed. You could be one of the fortunate first ones. Now there’s something you could brag about once I reach 100.000+ subscribers! Consider it a ‘collectors edition’.
